Preserving tradition, igniting community
Sunday School
The Zoroastrians in Victoria have been holding A Sunday School class for young Zoroastrians since the first migrants that came to call this state their home. It has been led by volunteers with many Zoroastrians opening up their houses to allow for a congregation of young Zarathustis to come together and learn about their religion and culture.
Currently the Sunday School class is held at a Caroline Springs premise generously lent by the Mirza family that hosts our monthly prayers including Muktad prayers.
Our Purpose
The purpose of holding the Sunday School class for young Zoroastrians is to provide for an exposure and opportunity to better understand religion, ethos, culture, history and people of Zoroastrian faith. This is done using a variety of tools from books, videos, worksheets, music, hands on art and craft and through community service.
It is vital the young Zarathustis also explore their sense of identity in this wonderfully mix of Cultures that makes Australia a great place to live. We are also intentionally providing opportunities for the young to discuss and share their role, place and identity in a global world. Zarthustra was a great philosopher and his teachings hold relevance and meaning across all aspects of time and history including the modern day struggles of protecting the environment, equity, fairness and integrity. Our Young Zoroastrians are encouraged to reflect on and seek guidance through the teachings of our prophet.
