Our lovely city...

ZAV INC - Melbourne! That’s where we are

Say it slowly. M-E-L-B-O-U-R-N-E !
Let it roll round your tongue.
Melodious, mellifluous, marvellous, majestic Melbourne. It has mountains and music, Mumba and mayhem. Theatre, art and opera. Money and shopping.
It’s the money capital of Australia. It’s the Garden City in the Garden State. It is a city of many charms, historic and modern. A cornucopia of produce lushly served up in eateries and restaurants of a variety of cuisines and prices.
Gorgeous Melbourne

Melbourne CBD is compact and walkable from North to South and East to West.
Along the way you can see some excellent examples of turn-of-the-century colonial architecture, pick up some ‘cool’ bits of shopping, or some funky items if that’s your bag. There are some exclusive boutiques too. Don’t want to walk? Hop a tram ride. There are some visitors who have actually done their entire city sightseeing all by tram for just a few bob. You can even hop a double-decker bus from Flinders Street Station – sort of our iconic hub of the city landmark – hop on and off where ever you want to.
Hungry? An ‘el cheapo’ grazing trough is never too far; or if you feel like money’s-no-problem fancy silver service restaurant, you’ll find plenty of those too. Go up to the 33rd floor of the Rialto Building at the west-end of Collins St. and take in a breath taking panoramic view of the city of Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay. Visit Victoria Market. Shop till you drop eat till you pop.

It all depends on how much time you have in hand – and dare I say how much money and how much energy. If you are the young and energetic one the sky’s the limit. There is every kind of entertainment, every kind of participating sport or spectator sport. Of course, you know that Melbourne is the home of cricket at the hallowed MCG, of Victorian rules ‘Footy’. Experience the excitement of international tennis, golf and Grand Prix motor racing.

If your tastes, interests and age move you to seek more genteel diversions, there is the Victorian Art Gallery, the theatres, Concert Hall, which constantly offer eclectic programmes. Numerous parks in the City and suburbs provide satellite worlds of beauty and tranquillity to sooth the mind and elevate the soul.

All of this and much more is available within a very few square miles of the CBD.

Then there’s the Yarra River to explore. A half-day or full day boat cruise is available. Further a field take in the vineyards and wine tasting with a snack lunch thrown in. A late evening visit to Phillip Island to see the penguins come ashore. If you come in winter, you can cut a swathe on the ski slopes near by. Take several day trips to the Dandenong’s or Mt. Macedon. The possibilities and offerings are endless. You can do it in style or you can slum it.

The Aussie is informal and friendly. If after a drink or two, shared with one in good cheer and bonhomie, he slaps you on the back and starts to call you “You bloody b.......”, take no offence.
All it means is that he has accepted you as one of his own.

And another thing, if you don’t like the weather despair not; it is bound to change in a matter of minutes!!

Now where on earth would you get all that and a genuine Aussie-Jarthosti “G’Day” to welcome you?

Wanna come? Yeh! Of course you do!
